정혜정은 다양한 장소를 여행하며 공간을 사유하고 재해석하는 작가이다. 여정의 흐름과 과정을 중요시하며, 유동적 장소성에 관심이 있다. 작가는 현실과 상상, 역사와 픽션, 현재와 과거가 뒤섞인 ‘역공간’을 창조하거나, 자신이 머문 공간을 변주하여 심리적 공간을 만들어낸다. 일상의 공간을 비롯한 세계 곳곳을 걸어 다니면서 개인의 역사가 담긴 이야기와 오브제들을 수집하고, 공간에 다시 설치함으로써 공간의 지형을 새롭게 그려내는 작업을 해왔다.
